The Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle’s Social Service office assists families and individuals who are in need as funds and supplies permit. The following is an explanation of the services we offer and the eligibility requirements you must meet in order to receive services from our office.
Our Mission: To support healthy family life and to assist low-income individuals and families as well as the homeless through the provision of emergency short-term assistance, along with information and or referrals for continuing or long-term help.
- Emergency Assistance Programs: We run a food pantry Monday through Friday. Individuals and families experiencing homelessness can visit our Grab N GO food line on Mondays and Fridays between 9am and 11:15 am for ready to eat food. Housed individuals and families are welcome to call us at 626-773-4404 to schedule an appointment to visit our client choice pantry Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9am -11;30am. Please leave a voicemail in no one answers, and we will return your call in the order it was received. We do not take walk-ins. We serve the community of (Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, San Marino, and Sierra Madre.) Proof of residency and Identification required. For those outside of our service area, please call 800-728-7825 for The Salvation Army in your area.
- Back to School Program: Held every summer, we provide PUSD students with backpacks filled with school supplies and a shopping experience to get new school clothes. You may register your child at the Pasadena Tab Social Services office, or with PUSD’s Families in Transition office.
- Thanksgiving Day Meals: We provide free Thanksgiving to-go meals on Thanksgiving Day. All are welcome. Additionally, we deliver 700 meals to homebound seniors in the areas of Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, San Marino, and Sierra Madre. Seniors may register for the meal in October.
- Christmas Toy & Food Distribution: Takes place every year in December and is open to all low-income families who reside in the cities we serve (Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, San Marino, and Sierra Madre.)
- Registration takes place from mid-september through the first week of December. You can register your children ages 0-12 at one of the following locations:

Must present ID for adult, proof of address, proof of income, and Medi-Cal card or school ID for each child.
