The Salvation Army assists needy families and homeless individuals with emergency assistance as funds and supplies permit. The following is an explanation of the process and requirements you must meet in order to be eligible to receive assistance.

Our Mission: To support healthy family life and to assist low-income individuals and families as well as the homeless through the provision of emergency short-term assistance, along with information and or referrals for continuing or long-term help.

 

Emergency Food for Housed Individual or Family

  • May receive food assistance once every 90 days
  • Must be housed and able to refrigerate and have access to a stove to prepare food
  • All of the following is required upon first visit & annually in order to determine eligibility
    • Photo ID for each adult in the household
    • Proof of local residency in Altadena, Pasadena, South Pasadena, or Sierra Madre (such as gas/light/phone bill/cable bill, current rent receipt, or mail postmarked within the last 30 day)
    • ID for child (such as MediCal card, school ID, or birth certificate)
    • Provide statement of income within the last 30 days (pay stub, welfare stub, social security printout, unemployment, or disability papers)

Household & Baby Supplies

  • Household items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and cleaning products are available as needed upon request
  • Baby items such as shampoo, lotion, baby formula etc. are available upon request

Emergency Food for the Homeless

  • May receive food assistance once every 30 days
  • Must present photo ID (paper copy is accepted)

Daily Food Assistance

  • Donated food is made available daily in our front lobby (refrigerator and shelf)
  • All are welcome to takes items daily
  • No registration/requirements
  • All that we ask is that you please be courteous, take only what you need, and limit what you take when our supply is low

 Sack Lunches

  • Available for the homeless or for those housed but without access to a stove and refrigerator
  • 30 sack lunches are available daily on a first come first served basis

Clothing Assistance (Temporarily Unavailable)

  • Clothing vouchers are only available for the homeless
  • A $20 voucher is issued to be redeemed at The Salvation Army Thrift Store located at 56 W. Del Mar Avenue, Pasadena 91105 and must be used within 30 day
  • Only eligible to receive one voucher every 12 months
  • Photo ID is required

Hygiene Kits and Blankets

  • Available to people experiencing homelessness
  • Frequency based on availability
  • Photo ID required

ID Replacement

  • No Fee Identification Card voucher is available for the homeless only
  • Reduced Fee Identification Card voucher is available for those not homeless and of low income (receiving CalWorks, GR, CFAP, CAPI, SSI/SSDI)
  • May only receive a maximum of 4 vouchers a year

 

We are happy to assist you with all of the services listed above and we are also available to provide emotional/spiritual support, referrals, and case management.
